An introduction to dance for pre-school children aged 2-4 years. Classes are fun and creative, using different themes and imaginative mimes to introduce the basis of sound ballet technique. A great preparation for for the RAD ballet syllabus classes aimed equally at girls and boys!
The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is one of the world’s most influential dance organisations, promoting knowledge, understanding and practice of dance internationally. As a member of the RAD, Lucy’s ballet classes follow the RAD syllabus from Pre-Primary to the Higher and Vocational Grades with the option of taking examinations and class awards. Ballet develops a strong classical technique which builds a strong base for any dance form.
Contemporary dance is perhaps best described as in between ballet and streetdance; a fluid, dynamic and creative modern dance style that appeals to both girls and boys. The class starts with warm ups and exercises that are based on Graham, Cunningham and Release techniques as well as classical ballet to build a sound foundation of dance technique. We then use a termly theme and inspiration from dance styles from around the world to create travelling sequences and learn choreographed pieces to perform at the end of term.
